I made a posting yesterday regarding a shotgun that I inherited from my grandfather and am looking to check to see if a response was given. What is the best way to find out.
The question was from Mossy85.

Thank you

Big Curt,

Thanks for getting back to me. The question was about a 12 guage side-by-side double barrel. The only markings on the gun are Remington Arms Co. and it had a number on the bottom of 100413.

Thanks again,

hello again ,,well first off is it a hammergun or hammerless?i'm gonna guess it's hammerless,,are there any patent dates on the barrels ? theres a possiblity of 3 model it could be ,,a 1883-1889 or a 1894 or a 1900,,and of these would be close in value and there all listed around 600-700 good and prices go all the way to 1500+ for extremmly nice examples..also is it engraved ?

You are correct that it is hammerless. The only other markings I see of the gun is between the two barrels.
Remington Arms Co TITON, N Y USA

The city is extremely hard to read and may not be TITON.
No other markings or engravings on the gun.

hello again ,,it's proably llion ny ,,that was remingtons address ,,and id say the numbers quoted would be fair -good around 400-600,,and it's proably a model 1894 or a 1900 as these were the hammerless models ,,they were both basically the same except for minor internal changes and the 1900 was only available in 12 or 16 ga,while the 1894 was offered in 10 ga along with 12+16ga ,,some had damascus barrels and some had fluid steel barrels,,the damascus barrels would not be safe with modern ammo ,,but the fluid steel barrels should be ok with modern feild loads ,,but condition of any firearm should be checked if you have any doubts about the saftey of shooting it !!

i'd say somewhere between 1900-1910 ..alot of times with old turn of the century firearms the model will sometimes be a clue as to the production start year ,,heres some examples a model 11 remington was introduced in 1911,,a,model 97 winchester was introduced in 1897,,a model 94 winchester was introduced in 1894 and so on ,,it isn't always this way but it's a start sometimes,,but a model 10 remington was introduced in 1907 but it's a time frame to refrence.. and usually is close for an issue timeframe,,thats why i asked about patent dates ,,they also can put a model on some firearms ..just a few intresting facts about older firearms for your enjoyment,,
