I just purchased a Krag rifle, M 1899 carbine. Very good condition and it appears to be all original. Some one has carved there initials in the stock, neatly.
Paid 1400.00 for it. How did I do.
Serial # 357469.
Cartouche on stock dated 1901.
Thanks.

Without detailed pictures it would be hard to tell. With detailed pictures it wouldn't be hard to tell.

There were, outside of oddities, three blocks of 1899 carbines. Your gun is in the third block.

I'd check the detailed records I have for that serial but I won't have access to them for a couple of weeks. Checking my quick reference - I haven't seen that gun.

If you want to send detailed pictures I'll take a look. I'd really need pictures though.
