I just inherited a savage 303 lever action, non takedowm, was wondering if i could get more info on this rifle, the serial number is 75.8XX father in law had a new stock put on it, so it doesn't have the original baseplate, the sights have been changed, if you have any ideas let me know

hello,,i beleive your savage is a md 99 levergun..the serial number i beleive would place it as being made in 1908 these early savage md 99 are very collectable but the new stocks and sites will hurt the value to a 99 colector..value is gonna be tough to say without knowing what kind of restocking job was done and how nice it is ,,i'll take a guess and say with the replacement wood and site work it's proably a 400-500 rifle ,,but thats a guess and not written in stone..it might bring a little more to the right collector if he's looking for a refinished rifle to restore or to someone looking for a savage 99 for hunting purposes..
