hello i'd say your 97's in good condition standard grades should be worth between 350-500 each so you should be able to get a nice pistold for them..i'd recommend a 45 if you can handle one comfortably,,i'd recomend a local gunshop to go and see what ya like before you get rid of your winchesters ..and see what pistol feels good in your hand ..for personal protection a 45..or 40 cal semi or.357mag or 44 mag revolvers are all good choices.. revolvers are the top choices because you don't usually have to worry about a wheelgun jamming or missfeeding like many semi autos do with certain types of ammo,,just some advice for ya to think about..

,,,i wouldn't go with a 38 cal or even a 9mm or smaller if it's your life or belongings you concerned about protecting,,bigger calibers make bigger holes,,and usually people don't like to argue with someone holding a large caliber handgun!!,,i also wouldn't go with a barrel lenght of over 6"s actually 4" is perfect in a revolver for at home use ,,for a carry a 2" is an excellent choice or a small subcompact semi auto ,,you should be able to make a good trade on one of your pump guns for a nice pistol that will meet your needs ..
