I have my great grandfathers model 94 winchester. My the serial number tell me it was made in 1917. The wood is in great shape, it still shoots well, my grandfather removed the orginal sight but says he still has it. Blueing on the barrel is good, reciever doesnt have much left on it but has a really nice patina. This does not appear to be a saddle ring version. Any idea on value, not that I am ever going to sell it.

hello ,,winchesters value has alot to do with originality,,if your grandfaters has the original sites for it then i'd put them back on ,,did he change them or possibly did he have a scope mounted on it? if there was a scope mounted on it at some time and the receiver was drilled and tapped ..collector value is much lower,,with that in mind the early winchester have a big following in the collectors corner and some early winchesters will demand high dollars at auction ,,since your not looking to sell it then i'll tell you that for insurance purposes it would proably value around 1000-1500 to replace.. minimum!!a good apraisal should be aquired for these purposes ..if you can post a pic it might help us see the actual condition and mabey even give us a better idea of the condition,,just a left and right full lenght clear pic will help ,,if you can ..
