I have an FN "Baby Browning", Serial # 130XXX, stamped "Made in Belgium" with Euro proof marks and "Cal.6m/m35" stamped on the barrel at the ejector slot.

The gun is in its original "alligator" box with red velvet lining and foil name tag.

I have had this gun some 30 years and I have never fired it. I got the gun from a relative who told me it had never been fired...could be true. I would like to find a loving home for this piece. What do you folks think it might be worth?

ask away, but also include your opinion as to the gun's value on the market.

Hi,

Well my questions would be does the gun appear to be new and unfired? Does it show any signs of wear on the trigger, front edges of the slide etc...

Do you have pictures that I could see of the gun, boox and paperwork?

Is the box in new condition? Does the gun have the original manual, sales receipt etc.....

My findings on similar guns that I have purchased is that if it is perfect with a perfect box and all the owners manual and documents it is worth $550.

Sincerely,

Joe

No wear on any surfaces, but no paper work. Box is intact, with wear and tear from 50+ years of showing. I will attach a photo fo

First of all...I live in Colorado and you seem to live in Pennsylvania. Therefore, transfer of the pistol requires that you have a FFL or know someone who does...it is to that person, only, that my friendly FFL will ship the pistol. You then will pickup the pistol at your dealer's address, where he will transfer it (legally) to you. That is the process and none other will suffice. A postal money order will be an acceptible method of payment.

I will check with my FFL tomorrow and I will await your answer after you have located a dealer near you.

Yes I'm well aware of the process. This isn't my first time around. I have an FFL ready. You need to give me your dealers name and fax so they can exchange FFL information. My FFL dealer is Sportsmans Supply Co. 245 Freeport Road, Butler PA 16002. The phone number is 724-287-4294 the fax number is 724-287-4999.

I will be happy to pay you by USPS Money Orders. I need your name and address.

Thanks

Good morning, Joe: sorry if I insulted you with instructions. This is my 1st time to use FFL transfer, as I have always dealt through local gun shows or eye-to-eye.

My dealer will probably be Prairie Arms, in Littleton, CO. I will go see him today and flange up the shipping arrangements. I would have used Sportsmans Supply, but they recently closed their store near me. The other one is 40 miles across town. I will be back to you later today.

No problem Martin. Sportsmans Supply is my local FFL dealer that you will be shipping to through your dealer.

Let me know when you get all of the arrangements together and I will send out the payment of $550 in US Postal money orders.

Thank you very much, and I am looking forward to receiving the gun.

Sincerely,

Joe Homolek

Joe: I went to the Post Office after you called. They will not accept the gun or even gun parts unless they have a Form 1508 signed by a licensed dealer in their presence. So,unfortunately, UPS has us by the balls here in Colorado. There is no other FFL within a day's travel (round trip) that will even ship the gun for me without a $20 + upcharge. Here's what I propose...I will split the $60 charge from my FFL with you...$30 each. If that is ok, let me know and I will get the gun shipped Tuesday morning. This is all very frustrating !!!

hello,,i had to jump in here ,,most post offices don't actually know the regullations and think they do ,,i'd ask to see the regulation stateing that a long gun cannot be shipped thru the mail ,,handguns are a different animal and they do need a licenced dealer to ship and receive them ,,gun parts are not under any restrictions and do not require a licenced dealer to accept them ,,so there pulling something and they don't know there regulations and figure you dumb and don't know better ,,i had this ardument with postmasters before and you have to educate them in there own regulations sometimes ,,like i said have them show you the regulation stateing the information stateing longuns cannot be shipped without a licenced dealer ,,hell guns get repaired everyday and ya have to have a way to ship them ,,like i said handguns cannot be shipped or received legally thru the p/o,,but thats only a formality also ,,now i will tell you.. they have the right to have you open the package to ensure that the longun or shotgun is unloaded and follows practical care in packageing but if they tell you ..you can't ship it unless your a dealer there full of the brown stuff,,and i'm not talking ups,,i will say that they may have changed something in 2010 and if they did i stand corrected but unless it's a new regulation it's just someone that thinks they know what there talking about and really doesn't,,i worked with a gunshop for years and we could ship longuns without any special paperwork,,and as i said pistols are a different animal and do require paperwork between dealers ,,my curosity is up now and i'm gonna check to see if any new regs came out this year but as of the 2009 regs it was still ok to ship longuns and parts via the p/o..

Actually the early models came with a box. They didn't start doing the zippered bag till after 1961. Are you interested in selling it or did you just want to know the date of manufacture?
