hello,,how was it sporterized ? there is a chance that you could restore it to the original configuration by restocking it ,,if it wasn't altered with extra mounting holes in the receiver ,,i've seen scopes for these on the ebay site from time to time ,,the correct scope would be a british no 32 or a canadian no67,,be aware that ther were many of these converted by holland and holland to 308 and the stocks were shortened during the conversion,,but in original 303 caliber if no other alterations done except shortening the stock were done then i'd recommend trying to restore it,,the forstock is basically a No4 stock with modification done to the side for the mount,,,,you would proably need the bands and handguards also but for the wood and bands i'd say your talking around 100 bucks if ya look around ,,if the buttstock doesn't have the wooden cheekpeice that could be a hard item to find but if ya look around it may be findable ,,original examples with the proper scopes can reach 2000+ to collectors ,,,but in the condition yours proably is in as long as no extra holes or hasn't been shortened and it still retains the action and with correct barrel i'd still say you have a 500 dollar rifle and possibly more to a britt collector looking for a correct snipe action to restore ..
,, i remember seeing these advertized in rifle mmagazines in the early 60's for around 80 bucks complete and sometimes in the original shipping cases ,,but those days are gone and if i had your rifle i would try to restore it if at all possible..they are getting very hard to find these days ..
