hello,,you proably have a model 1842 musket,,made by springfield ,,the date your refering to 1849 is proably the lock date ..it should have a springfield eagle and the date on it,,are there any othere marking on the lock ? the reasonn i ask is there were a bunch of firms that made the rifles and there names may also be on the front lower part of the lock,,value is kinda hard to give an exact figure for because the condition is a big factor on these old muzzeloaders ,,without seeing it i'd save if it's not a rusted up example and it appeares to be functional and in decent condition i'd say the value could be around 1000-1500+,,if it's in poor shape and not working i'd say between 500-700 + or -,,
