I have a Winchester model-70 338 mag. good condition. My buddy want's to purchase/trade me. Does anyone know the value of the gun?
Since he best gun made by Winchester the model 70 is no longer made th gun value has gone up considrably. So with that being siad the value of the gun even being used with out a scope in like excelnet or nib condition might fetch $750 or more but that depends on caiber and how much ur buyer wants to pay.
What ireally need is the serial number and an idea of just what version of the rifle you have. There are lots of them. The condition is the greatest factor in determining value. So a good detailed description, or better, some photos would help immensly. I am going to send you my email for photos.
If you can get back to me with more detailed info I will be glad to help you.
The serial number you provided corresponds to manufacture in 1977. So the rifle is not all that old. From what I can tell it is a Model 70 sporter version with the cheekpiecse on the stock. It sure looks like it is in perfect condition based on the photos you sent.
I would suggest that the value you need to be working with in the sell/trade would be in the $650 neighborhood.
Thanks 2bit, I've had the gun for about 20 years, shot it once. A little big for game in michigan. At least now I know what it's worth.
Yeah, it way too much for a Michigan rifle. I grew up there but have been in Texas for 30 years now. Still have lots of family there. Since you can't use center fire in the lower half of the Lower Pen and the deer south of the bridge aren't that big You definitely have more gun than you need. My brother takes LOTS of deer with his bow from tree stands where he can typically see house roofs not very far away. Monster bucks.
Good luck with the rifle
