I have a Winchester model 70 243, serial #403xxx. The stocks finish is worn off considerably on the butt. Blueing is good and it shoots 1" with factory loads. Has a Weaver K-10 mounted. Can anyone give me an idea on value and date of man?
Your rifle dates to 1907. The fact that the finish is poor and that it has holes drilled for a scope mount pretty much kills its collector value. My guess is it might bring $250 to $300 dollars.
hello,,i think our other mod got the guns mixed up,,lol,,lol, hey i've done it before,,lol,,anyway heres the scoope on yiour md 70,,it was made in 1957 so it's an early one and very collectable ,,the 243 is very popular with younger shooter and women alike because of the lower recoil and accuracy,,with that in mind i'd estimate your md 70 would value between 800good-1200 exc,,and possibly more to the right collector ,,sorry about the other quote ,,i know 2bit knows his winchesters and i think he was commenting on another rifle and got the posts mixed up ,,hey we are all human and all make a mistake from time to time ..lol..
You're right! That will teach me to do this before the coffee is done brewing. Guest, please dimiss my blunder. Obvioulsy I am not shooting 1" groups this morning. Not yet.
