I have a Winchester Mod 70 XTR Featherweight in 280 Cal. It is brand new and never fired. SN: G1748xxx. I purchased this rifle in the early 80s. I was told that this is the first time Winchester used a Remmington caliber on their model 70. What is it worth. I need to trade for a good AR-15. Bob

Hey Bob,

Too snowy to be on the river?

Your Model 70 XTR gets dinged a bit as being post 64 obviously and haveing a smaller caliber. On trade I would think that $550 to $650 is a fair value. Especially since the condition should be great.

Hope that helps

Thank You; I did check gunbrokers.org and recient sales show the post 64 mod 70 in small calibers around $800 and up (there were no 280s sold. I don't think they manufactured many of this caliber in the featherweight. BBBBBBUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRR! It is only 52 degrees here today and snowing just up North......Bob

Bob,

I have been fishing in Alaska when it is 42 and blowing and raining! But after your thirtieth fainbow well over 22 inches you really don't mind the cold. You're having too much dang fun.

I probably have to type "rifle" so this is a legal post
