hello ,,is yours marked model of 1911 ,,if so it was made in 1918 by colt ,,it may have a dull almost black finish to it or may not..the 1911 colt army 45's are very collectable and value in good condition would start at around 1000 and go up from there depending how correct it is and how the finish overall is,,some of these military 45's can reach into the thousands of dollars depending on the pistol and rarity of it ..collectors look for original guns with original finishes ,,refinished or rebuilt pistols will have a lower value than original pistols with original parts ..

thanks for your help. it appears to be original and it does have a dull black finish and it does say us property on it the only thing is i put pacmeyer grips on it and somehow i lost one side of the wood grip

these old colts are very collectable and replacement repo grips are availabel if you would want a pair,,check out gunparts corp online they would have them ,,but unless your planning on selling it then keep the pac's on it for comfort..
