Im not sure about the black powder thing but i think id avoid it till you know for sure. It fires not only 45 long colts but also 410 shotgun shells in case you didnt already know. I have wanted one of those puppies for years. I saw the other day that the ones they're making now have ported barrels. Id like a blued one with a 6" barrel. I believe that black powder is corrosive so if you do shoot those rounds make sure to clean it well afterward. Have Fun! RugerFreak

hello,,id say you saw some cowboy ammo for the cowboy shooters,,most of the old colt SA models shot blackpowder in the time frame ..modern ammo isn't recommended in these old colts because of there value and history so some companys are loading the 45 colt ammo for these old handguns and rifles ,,i'd suggest you look around for modern ammo ,,most bigger sporting goods shops or gunshops will carry 45 lc commercial ammo ,,you could shoot the bp loads if you absolutly can't find any other ammo but i'd suggest you stick with factory commercial ammo in your taurus..and if you do use the bp loads MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN IT VERY WELL AFTER FIREING THE BP LOADS!because as the other poster stated Black Powder is very corosive and can really cause problems if left in barrels for long periods of time!!!!
