I recently got a hj higgins 30.06 iam guessing its around late 60s early 70s becouse ther is no serial number but i was wondering how much these are going for and if the front sight can be replaced there is a set screw but the sight does not budge and i dont wanna ruin the sight prying on it. its a great gun and is dead on acruate

hello ,,your jc higgins rifle was a sears trade name for many years before they started useing the ted williams tradename ,,is there a model number on it ,,some of them were made by fn,,sako and possibly winchester,,they are good rifles but with the sears tradename don't demand the prices the factory brand name models do ,,but depending who actually did make it for sears could still have a value near the original model ..

All it says is JC Higgins model 51L. I was told from the gunsmith that this had no serial number. I would also like to know if the front sight can be removed and replaced with after market glo sights.
