i have a colt d.a 38 6inc.barrel on the barrel it has colt's ptf.a. mfg co hartford ct usa and pat is sept 19 1876 what is this worth?

hello,,you may have a lightning or thunderer modle which was the first double action revolver colt produced ,,it look like a sa army model with a large triggerguard,,some had an ejector rod simular to the single action army and some didn't ,,if this is what you have then prices would be between 800 good-3000 exc,,if in doubt you should seek a professional appraisal for insurance purposes by someone more knowledgable in these old colt revolvers,,
