I have a Browning 16 gauge marked "Sweet Sixteen" on the upper right side of the receiver. The serial number is X19906. It is not ribbed and does not have a choke. What can you tell me about this shotgun?

Your shotgun was made in 1948. Please post a few photos and I will try to estimate the value for you. Your barrel has some sort of fixed choke, look for stars on the left side of the barrel and let us know the markings that are present. Browning used a combination of stars and dash lines to designate their fixed choke barrels.

I will get photos for you. The barrel is clean with no rust. The stock needs to be refinished. No damage but the finish is scraped. Thanks
