I have a Browning 12 guage 2 3/4 inch 98 percent perfect condition. I spent $150.00 having it blued and stock varnished thinking I was going to keep it but I need to sell if the price is right.
So many emblems and signs on the gun it is hard to make out because it is like japanese. It has a ventilated rib on it. It has the crown on it as well with the wood forearm engraved on the bottom for a better grip.
Has engraving on the sides top and the R on the side with a circle around it.
Barrell has Browning arms Co. Mo 2 gk 2 7/8 1270 where the shells go in it has the number H8235.
Can any one tell me the year model make and how much it is worth.

hello,,your browning was made in1954 and is listed as being a standard 12,,it is the mid production model made by FN in belgium and they are collectable ,,they range from 600 VG to around 900 EXC ,,but a browning collector may not pay the preimum prices because of the refinishing ,,collectors look for shotguns that have original finishes ..and i have seen good reblues and bad reblues and the value could be up or down depending which finish you got ,,some gunsmiths go overboard in prep work and there easy to spot because the markings will look soft or light as opposed to sharp deep stamps ,,sometimes sharp edges will be smooth and some reblue jobs are not even in color.. all of these browning collectors will look for when evaluating a refinishing job ,,stock work is another aera the collector looks at and again i've seen good jobs and bad jobs,,and it would be hard for me to beleive for 150 for the reblue and the refinish job you got a super hard to tell from original refinish job ,,sorry but i used to work for a gunsmith who did surperb work and his reblue jobs on guns were hard to tell from original... his starting price was 125-150 without much prep work or pitting and if alot of hand work could be as high as 200+,,and to do a stock.. just to strip and refinish was 65 but that was all hand rubbing with many coats of tru oil to acheive the gloss the customer wanted,,but thats not saying your job wasn't done properly but these are some things collectors look for in brownings ,,

Thanks big curt. The man that did it has a little shop by his home and does it as a hobby and to make extra money.
The gun had no pitting and he did not hand sand down to where it is smooth as a baby behind but it looks great.

Thanks,

hello ,,your browning is a standard model 12ga made in 1956,,browning auto 5's hold there values well and i'm seeing them at online auctions between 600-850 in the condition yours appeares to be in,,gunshops would proably offer 300-350 for it cash or trade ,,with the introduction of the removable choke guns.. fixed choke models of shotguns are not as popular as they once were ..the older brownings with fixed chaoke have become more collectors items than feild guns and they seem to of more intrest to collectors than the new crowd of hunters..so it seems gunshops feel there slow movers on there racks ,,but browning collectors are still on the prowl for nice examples ..your best bet for selling would be online at one of the auction sites like gunbrokers .com or guns international or even on gunsamerica ,,more collectors veiw these sites and will pay the higher prices for nice examples ,,do some looking on these sites to get a real feel of values and going prices when you deceide to sell them ..

Bigcurt,

Thanks for that information I would have never knew where to go to find out any of that information.
You should be a consultant or something and charge $5.00 per answer for telling people what type gun they have and the estimated value of the gun.
It is just an idea since I once had a simple question about a trey built tiller which I needed the year model and how to put the two six inch belts on which were so simple once they told me the two bolts to unscrew and swing out the motor and they charged $9.99 for the online information which I did not mind paying since it was cheaper than taking it 25 miles to town and getting a shop to do it.
Just a thought since you seem to be an expert at this kind of thing and who knows it may make you bundle doing something you love to do?
I need to ask another favor Bigcurt. I have another question posted about the model and possible price of another 2 3/4 Browning with a picture on the posting and a question is along with that one about a 3 inch mangnum browning with a 32 inch barrell. The 3 inch Magnuum is in a little better shape than the Browning 2 3/4 I am asking the new questions about.
The 2 3/4 has a number under where you put in the shells are M7076 and the 3 inch magnum has the numbers of 2V42974.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
