hello,,serial number is too high according to my books to be a lightning model,,you didn't mention if this as a single action or double action and also is this a small frame pistol or a peacemaker cowboy sized pistol? also is it 41 centerfire or 41 rimfire,,sounds more like a rimfire pistol than a centerfire ,,need this info to try to figure what ya have ,,a pic would be nice also to see the condition and which model ya have ,,

Sounds a lot like a Single Action Army and if so made in 1900. Value could be significant depends on Condition, Condition, and Condition..

I have the same Patent numbers stamped on the frame of my .41 . But a lower serial number .Does your loading gate have 321 stamped on it ? And have found out what it might be worth yet ?

Loading gate will have a partial serial no, so they are all not the same. Value is 500 to over 5,000 but depends on original condition and pre-1899 is also a premium.

Then someone put a different loading gate on it . It is a pre - 1899 . It is an 1875 .

I also have a Colt D.A. 41 with the date Sept 19,1871 stamped between the trigger and the cylinder. It has the serial #123742 on both the base of the butt, end of the trigger guard, and on the trigger guard itself. This was my grandfathers gun from Oklahoma and was last fired at the end of WW II. It is single action and in working order although I wouldn't dare fire it. Do you have any information about it? I would love to know more. I tried to attach a picture but wasn't allowed due to the size of the pic. If you want the pic, either give me an email address or write me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
