I am looking for any info on my Dad's Remington .22 pump action rifle. It has a hexagonal barrel and tube mag. Serial A7783.Any date of manufacture or ballpark value.

hello..your remington proably a model 12 or a 12 with a letter a,b,c,d,e or f,,these were differet grades ,,some were engraved some were limited production ,,made from 1909-1936,,and values for a plain standard model would be 300 good-500 excellent with some of the engraved models reaching into the thousands .. condition means alot with thease older rifles and collectors look for original finishes on both wood and metal before they pay preimums on them..a gunshop might offer ya between 125-200 for it if it's pretty clean

OOPS, it is stamped under the action as Model 38.
I know when I first shot it when I was about 8 that it seemed old then.

hello again i checked 4 different refrence books and can't find anything on a md 38 made by remington,,check on the slide rails and see if theres a number there ,,the only hex barrel model remington made in a pump gun was the md 12 like i said earlier ,,i'll keep looking and see if i can find anything on a md 38

It will be a couple weeks before I get out to Mom's again. I will try to get some decent pics. I'm mostly interested in the history of the gun.

hey let us know when ya get a chance ,,i did some searching online and still can't come up with anything on a model 28 pump gun made by remington with an octagon barrel,,

My Dad hunted with the same 32 special- hex ( long ) barrel and he left it to me and I have refused $1000.00 for it.
