I have a 16 gauge pump, Winchester, model 97. It's got an optional barrel (shot & slug). It has a few scratches in the wood, a small crack in the stock (about an inch), a touch of rust on the metal. Can you give me a rough estimate of what might be worth?

Thanks,
Wesley

it sounds like ya have an honest example of an old 97 pump,,you didn't mention the serial number so i can't give you a date of production but with an extra barrel and the minor issues you should still be able to ask 450-550 for the old timer,,mabey even a little more to the right collector or at auction,,i haven't seen a 97 junker around for less than 350 and it was pretty rough ,,the stock looked like someone whittled it outa a peice of wood and they were asking 350 for it ,,hardly any finish on metal and pretty rough to boot,,stocks surface sometimes over on the big Ebaye auction site,,and you might be able to find one over at gunbroker.com if you'd like to replace the broken one or i bet a good gunsmith could repair the crack and make it stable again ,,seems like the old pumps are kinda noted for stocks cracking around the tangs,,but when we get to be over 100 years old we will proably have a few wrinkles and cosmetic flaws also....

Thanks for the info. It's a real nice looking gun & my Grandpa has a 410 & 12 gauge that match it.
