How much is a Smith & Wesson 38 special model 15-3 worth. It was a friend of mines service revolver from the 1970's he passed away and I would like to give his wife a fair price for it. Thanks Joe
Good for you, Guest
For a typical, holster-worn service Combat Masterpiece, probably in the neighborhood of $300. If it was not carried a lot and was well cared for, it might grade at NRA Very Good or NRA Excellent. If so, add $75 to $100 or so. If she has the box and accessories, be sure to get those too, even if you have to throw her a few extra bucks.
Thanks for the Help. I told her it was worth $300 and all she wanted was $200. Guess I got a pretty good buy then, He carried it with him for years on the job but it is in really nice shape with no rust.
Well, Joe. You got a very good deal here. The Combat Masterpiece is a fine sidearm, and this one has a history that you know of, to sweeten the deal. She let the thing go too cheaply, but did it knowingly. That's what the free market is about. Everyone comes away happy.
I got one for you I purchased a 1955 smith & wesson snub nose chiefs special .38 revolver, blue steel in color, from a widower for $200.00. Still has the original box and is in pretty good condition. She stated her husband carried it for years while working in St. Louis. Mo. Its only been shot a couple of times. What do you this its worth. I would like to trade or sell it for a 357 magnum snub nose.
