hello,,well i'm not in ca so i can't give the best answer but i'll give you some pointers,,first off ,,when you buy at shows there are 2 types of people who sell guns ,,Dealers and private party sales,,dealers are the best way to go because they do it leagley buy by the book! Most dealers in all states know whats legal and whats not from state to state and will make you have the gun regestered ,,when it comes to regestration ,,the gun is regestered to the dealer and he transfers it to you.... you fill out a yellow paper that asks about any thing that would stop you from owning a firearm,,eg felony charges,,abuse charges,,and so on about 15 questions you need to answer yes or no and most dealers can answer any questions you may have ,,then he calls for a nics check ,,what he's doing is calling a database with all drivers licence regestered and social security nubers in it,,they check your id for charges against or see if your stable enough and had no trouble with the law..age and thats basically it,,there not recording the guns you purchase (the dealer is the person who will know what you buy)There only making sure your ok to walk out on the streets with one..the second gun seller is a private person walking around with firearms for sale,,,,there kinda like buying a car out of a newspaper,,you look at it and buy it and drive it home..but for the most part it's an easy prosess and unless your a criminal you will proably own it and take it home..California is one of the toughest states on some forms of firearms,,from what i've read of there gun laws "no assult rifles",,there laws are hard to iterpit at times because it seem theres 2 answers ,,your and theres ,,i beleive the last time i checked sks's weren't banned unless they had removable mags or over a 10 round capacity,,the yugo you mentioned i beleive is ok,,but better to ask at the show before you buy something you can't own,,the enflield is a bolt action and shouldn't be any problem
