I have a Hopkins & Allen 12 ga. double barrel (side-by-side) shotgun, sn# 27947 that I wish to learn history of and approximate value on. The markings on the gun reads....

Hopkins & Allen Arms Co.
Norwich Conn., USA

serial# is stamped under break reading 27947

Other distinguishable features are double triggers, raised ribbed sights length of barrel, and chamber for shells is of different material than length of barrel, as in re-inforced. It measures 3 1/4 inches. Stock is checkered down around trigger to grip but not length of stock. Only has old hard plastic recoil pad.

Gun itself is in better than fair shape with visual defects being; barrel bluing worn, hair fracture in stock about 2-3 inches but not all the way through , and there is some play in break, but minor. If you manually thumb lever where barrel locks down, it will secure itself.
