high standard was established in 1926,, and the victor line was a semi auto 22 ,,not a revolver,,and i find no listing of high standard making a 38 cal revolver ,,they did make a 357 and a 44 in the 70's -80's

This is a short barrel 38 caliber - on the top of the barrel is VICTOR and under Victor is 38 S&W CTGE which was the way of telling what caliber and make of bullet to use. I have not been able to find any other like it. My grandfather came out of Indian Territory(Oklahoma) in the late 1800's to the panhandle of Texas before moving on to New Mexico about 1920. The family always remember him using it in Texas and New Mexico.

I have identified my VICTOR that everyone has told me is a HIGH STANDARD revolver. It is a Harrington and Richardson younger america double action revolver(1884-1941) - they made a VICTOR model - The picture of the american double action is identical to the revolver I have. the VICTOR was apparently an unfluted cylinder gun. Now my dates of ownership make sense. I now need to know how to date it.
