Be prepared for plenty of 'flames' for even asking the question. I know the Jennings is a very cheap (zinc I think) pistol that has a very limited life-span.

I do own a Makarov that I am really pleased with, do yourself a favor and include one on your consideration list. Look at Makarov.com

They have a terrible rep. They're known to be poorly made jam-o-matics. There's better stuff you could get if you have a small budget for a gun, like a used .38 revolver or a Kel-Tec P11.

Hi-Points weigh a ton, aren't very accurate, and aren't very reliable(in my experience). Have no experience with the Jennings. Accessories are also a bear to find for the Hi Point. If the price is whats attracting you to this pistol, and you need a pistol for CCW/Defense, you'd be wise to consider some other options:

1. Save a little longer and get a Ruger P-series pistol. I've seen used P-89's(9mm) for 250. I don't like the Ruger P-series pistols, but they are better than Hi-Points.

2. Decide what your life is really worth, and save long enough to get a pistol you can rely upon.

3. For just a little more than that Hi-Point, you can probably find a used 4in Barrel .357mag revolver. Some that immediately come to mind, that should be easy to find used, Ruger Security Six, Smith and Wesson's(various models), and others. Rossi also makes a good Revolver(IMO), and I've been very happy with my Taurus 7shot .357mag. Granted, the two used ones will probably have a lot of holster wear from being carried all over Gods creation by an Officer, but its a better option than the Hi-Point...

Good luck

Went Shopping For A New Gun A Few Weeks Ago And Almost Bought A Hi-Point(After Reading Up On The Unlimited Lifetime Warranty),I Say Almost Because At A Another Gun Store I Went To,I Found A 'New'(Owned But Never Fired) Norinco Model 213 9MM For Only $150.Best Decision I Ever Made.Hi-Points Are Too Top Heavy For My Tastes And It Feels Like One Of those Cheap S&W Sigma .380's From A Few Years Back.Shop Around,You WILL Find somthing Better for The Same Price.
