Hi, I have a Model 92 octagon barrel rifle not a carbine. On the normal markings of a 92 the model 1892 is stamped following the length of the gun. But on the one I have it is marked across the width. I have understood that Winchester did this on guns to be shipped out of the US market. I'm not sure and if anyone knows about these markings please let me know. GAPAMP Thanks,

Guest,
I have never seen nor heard of any Winchester rifles marked in a nontypical manner due to "foreign shipment". I would be REAL interested in seeing some photos of the receiver of this rifle to try to determine if it was buffed and then restamped in this manner.
Hope to hear back
