hey bigcurt.... I just was checking around on a couple of 12 gauges I got from my grandfather. First one is a Model 12 Win w/a 28" barrel, grooved foregrip, full choke, pistol grip, serial no. 1932243. It has just the smooth barrel, bead frt. sight. It can be taken down and packed in its orig. leather boot/sling.
Second is a Savage side by side Fox, model B. This gun has no serial numbers, but some engraving on both sides w/ Fox stamped at edge. This is also a 12 Ga. Has a U.S. stamp on left side and my gramp told me he got it in Hawaii after the occupation as some sort of gun buy back program. Any thoughts appreciated.. Chuck L. in Mass.

hello ,,ya have a couple good shotguns,,
the first one the md 12 ,,they used to be relaay popular and prices were high but so many are out ther nowadays that the prices have dropped of and i see them quite regularly in the 300-450 range ..but with the case thats a different story and i'd say mabey around 500-600 mabey a little more to the right collector at auction or a good gunshow ..made in 1962 judging from the serial number you gave

,,the fox model B grade should value around 1000 fair-around 2000 VG again at auction or to a fox collector,,made from 1905-1918

Thanks for the info man. I have no intention of unloading either of these in my lifetime. Sentimental value only. The Fox is certainly in VG condition with only a few nicks in buttstock, most likely from his ring. Blueing is good overall and the inside of the barrel is heaven bright.

I guess sunday morning trap is a no-no ..

Thanks so much.!

hello,,why not take it and use it ,,are you gonna wait till ya die then somebody will sell it at a yard sale ? but it will be the way ya got it from your grandfather ,,enjoy it and think of your grandad when ya win the shoots ,,i see alot of people see what a guns worth and think i better not use it ,,well yea if your gonna sell it then don't use it anymore ,,but if you have no plans of getting rid of it then why not get some enjoyment outa it,,i'm sure your granddad had to have used it and it proably got it's share of game in the feild ,,it's not like you paid 2500 bucks for a safequeen,,i could have told ya it would be worth 100 bucks and you wouldn't have a care about useing it ,,but just because it's a gun with some value it's not glass!!,,,,,,just my 2 cents worth on shooting or not ,,it's up to you but i'd enjoy it like it was a 50 buck junker just as much as a thousand dollar collectable ,,just because of the sentimental value associated with it being something grandad used and now your useing ,,just imagine the looks from the other trap shooters when ya pull out a vintage fox double and step up to the positions ,,and then spank there buts with there 5000 dollar trap guns..,,,,priceless!!
