hello,,you have a nice looking colt 1911 and i'd value it in the 600-800 range just by looking at your pics,,it may bring a little more at a good online auction with good pics and description,,some sites to look at for price comparison would be auctionarms.com or gunbrokers.com,,either of these sites would give you an idea of what people are paying for something like you have,,always look at auctions WITH bids because what someone lists something for... and what people are buying for.. are 2 different animals,,you can list something for any price but it won't always sell for that crazy listing price,,so look for item WITH bids and even watch those items and see what they actually close for ,,,gundealers will give good appraisals but will usually be low especially if your trying to sell it to them,,they'd proably offer you in the 350-mabey 500 if they had a proable buyer in mind ..but most of the time there buying for stock to sell in there store and they concider how long they may have to sit on it before they can turn it over and make a profit and also how many of like guns they have on stock,, so usually don't pay auction or collector prices for anything,,,most want at least a 30%-50% profit margin on what they buy or they usually pass on high dollar guns ...unless they know they can move it quick and still make the profit,,nowadays the market is somewhat slow with high priced guns and the average buyer walking into there store is looking for inexpencive shooters..not a high dollar safe queen,,so keep that in mind when you sell to dealers,, because alot of times they might seem to be insulting you with the prices they are willing to pay ...but there trying to make a living selling used guns and it's hard to do with people who buy a gun value book and walk in and say "the books say it's worth x amount" ,,value guides are just that "GUIDES" and no dealer i know will buy at the "GUIDES" prices or most of the time even close to the prices listed,,i usually tell people that "if" you can get 50% of the guide price from a dealer your luckey !,,most of the time it's more like 30% of book value that a dealer will offer you ,,this is just what i've seen from working with dealers both in store and in the feild ,,and i've worked at a gunshop for almost 10 years and been in the buying and selling feild for almost 40years so i've seen the shop owners tactics and theory of gunbuying.. i try to give both sides of the coin,,just to let people know what to expect when selling at a gunshop or gunshow to a dealer,, but never go in and act dumb either.. know what you have and a price range your looking for ,,if you want to see just how low a dealer will go ,,walk into a shop with a gun you know the value on and say what will you give me for this? and act like you don't have a clue what you have and see what he offeres,,and then you'll understand the game!
