hello and welcome ,,your 949 sportsman should value between 150 good -225 VG ,,they were very good 22 revolvers and they shoot very well,,

bigcurt,thks i bought it last week from a friend for 60.00 i guess it is a great investment. i bought it for my wife for home protection. we have another h&r that is a little different from the 949. it breaks down. but it breaks down where you push a lever above the hammer n it falls forward to load it an after you shoot it. you break it down the same way an it has a thing inside it that pushes the empty cartridges up so you can remove them. there is no numbers on it. i think it was made around 1940. not sure tho. would like to know what its worth to. thank bigcurt. willie

hello again ,,my mistake your 949 is a loading gate model ,,i was thinking about the one your talking about that breaks open ,,i beleive thats a sportsman model and may be a 999,,the 949 would value 150-175 and the break action would be 150-225 depending how nice it is,,i used to own a 999 and really liked it alot ,,h&r made some nice quality 22 revolvers,,but there sometime hard to tell which one ya have unless ya look them up ,,lol,,oh well almost 1700 posts i guess i can miss a couple ,,lol,,
still a good deal for 60 bucks anyway ya look at it ,,
