Below is a link to a picture of a revolver identical to mine, though mine is in considerably better condition than the one in the picture.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8c/ Hopkins_and_Allen_Safety_Police_Revolver_1534.jpg

The firing pin is broken on mine, and I need to replace the hammer. I ordered one from NUMRICH but it was the wrong one. I can return it, but I don't know what to order in its' place. Does anyone here have a good hammer for this weapon or can they tell me, looking at NUMRICH's order list, what I need to order. The hammer I ordered was "Hopkins & Allen, small frame, top break, center fire, hammer"(as opposed to hammerless). Below is all I've been able to learn about this little gun;

1. My gun looks just like the above picture.
2. There is no "Forehand" anywhere on it.
3. The grips say "H&A".
4. It is stamped "Hopkins & Allen Arms Co."
"Norwich, Ct. U.S.A. Pat. Dec. 6, 98"
5. The serial # is "I9208"
6. It has the triple action safety feature, (trigger must be pulled back for firing pin to strike cartridge) but it
doesn't look like any of the pictures of the "Safety
Police" I've seen and the safety feature works differently than the Safety Police.
7. I saw a picture of one that looked just like mine
the person posting said it was a Mod. # 1411.
8. It is a five shot, chambered for .38S&W
9."...this H&A revolver is a standard production H&A top break manufactured between 12-6-1898 and 2-4-1900."
10."...the december 6, 1898 is for patent #615467 issued to A.C. Wright and assigned to H&A co. of norwich ct."
Thank you for any help. John
Happy Trails, God Bless. John
