My Dad passed away & he had 4 guns that I was wondering if anyone here could give me a rough estimate on. There are 2 rifles, both Winchesters, 61 & 62A, both 22SLORLR as well.
Also 2 pistols, Colt automatic, 38 cal., & Gresichert pistol.
Thanx for your help.

sorry to hear about your father! but i'll try to help on your guns..the 61 winchester's value between 450 good -800 excellent,,the 62A would be 450 good - around 1500+ excellent ,,(but please note that pre war rifles in either model will bring a premium and quoted prices are for post ww2 made rifles and prices are depending on actual condition and originality,,as for your pistols,,the colt is kinda tough to value without some kinda model number or date frame,,how is it marked on the slide?any dates? or other markings,,serial number?,,need this info to determine what ya have before we can give ya a price ,,the gresichart pistol i don't seem to have a refrence on ,,again are there any other marking on it or could you provide a pic?

Thanx for the reply. I just checked email before I left & saw you reply. They're at my Dad's house right now. The serial# for the 38 colt auto starts with 254. The other starts with 50 & my son said it had a year of 1936.

you did a great job and i can tell ya alot from the pics ,,first off your colt is a 1903 pocket pistol made from 1903-1929 and in the condition pictured value would be in the 500-700 range ..mabey a little more to a colt collector or at auction,,your next one i was kinda wandering about when you gave the description,,i new i saw the name you listed somewhere ,,and that confirmed my beleif,,the name you gave is actually the saftey in german ,,what you have is a german luger ..i beleive from the pic it's a S/42 ww2 issue pistol ..made at the mauser werke factory and proably a vet bringback,, i beleive you said the date was 1936,,this was the first year of this run and i would imagine there are 2 or3 digit numbers on the small parts that should all be the same and match the last 2 or 3 numbers in the serial number on the pistol,,another thing to look at is the mag number ,,if it matches thats great and a plus..values in the original condition it looks like it's in i would estimate at 1000-1500..and mabey more to the right collector or at auction,,don't let a spineless gundealer offer you a couple hundred bucks for both of these pistols because you definatly have some very nice peices here and there very collectable ..and if you deceide to throw them away please throw them my way..lol i've always wanted a luger ..lol..lol..but just outa my price range..lol..very nice guns and thanks for shareing them with us!!

Thanx so much for the info. I really didn't know where to go...I was thinking about asking a gun shop but I didn't know if I'd get a low ball price from them so they could purchase them. Can't really ask my Dad right now.
Thanx again.

True, everyone likes a good deal, & there's nothing wrong with that. I can just picture me walking into a shop & the guy
looking at me thinking, oh a woman I can take advantage of. And he would take advantage!
They love to see woman & young people coming in stores or car dealerships for that matter.
Thanks again!!

hello again..700 would be a fair price for your winchesters ,,it would be nice to mabey see if he can go 800 or 750 if there really nice but thats up to you ..if he says he won't mabey he will counter your offer..if the guy is a dealer he's looking at the resale end and if he can make a buck at the price he's offering ..if he's a collector then he's going to keep them and then it would be a good deal to him..if he's a friend of yours then he's making a good offer ..the market today is funny and ya might be able to get more on a good auction site.. BUT remember that they may not sell for a higher price or even at all.. then the offer may be off the table,,ya know what they say ,,"a bird in hand.. is better than 2 in the bush" but it's your deceision to make ..i just make suggestions..

Thanks, I took the $700. He's my friends hubby & what he said today was that he'll pay me $700. & see if he can get more. He said if he gets more than $700. then he'll just ask for a % to cover his gas & time. He knows quite a few people & I do trust him. I value your opinion since I "started" with you so to speak. Thanx bigcurt.
