my brother in law;s father stored a number of antigue firearms in his attic up here in canada this idea did not work because of temp changes the firearms rusted badly. your basement is a better choice. i have mine stored in an old electrial panel box lined withwood panel boxes have heavy gauge steel in them and lockable doors. good luck suitty.

i personnally live out in the country where if someone got into my house they'ld have, a. alot of time, and b. no one would hear them ripping a cheap gun safe off the wall.. i learned this lesson the hard way so my storage now is a heavy metal door in a cutout in the floor, 16" X 84" X 12" (somewhere in my house) covered with a throw rug. my oppinion is that if you have a few thousand invested in firearms don't go and get a cheap box to store them in. it needs to be heavy enough so it can't be carted off and sturdy enough that you can't beat it open with a sledge hammer.
