A friend of mine purchased a fully gold plated 1911 Browning 9 mm in the mid 70's for $750.00. The gun has never been fired and only handled with gloves on. There are no blemishes on the gun what so ever. He is considering selling it but does'nt know what to ask. Can anyone give me a "rough" estimate? Thanks.

i'm not aware of browning making a gold plated 1911 model ,,are you sure it isn't a Hi Power model ,,they are simular in appearance to a 1911 but different ,,they made some pretty fancy hi powers in the 70's and they seem to be valued around 1500-almost 2000 but have to be in the condition you say your friends is in ,, "new in box"and unfired

I called it a 1911 since it looked like one. I appreciate very much you providing me the approximate value and pointing out that there is a diffence in a Hi Power and a 1911. Thanks.
