I have a Forehand & Wadsworth British Bulldog and I am trying to figure out when it was made and what caliber it is. I also was wondering what its value might be. It has a clear serial number 108947 stamped on the handle and cylinder. It is also double action. The trigger return spring is broken and the loading door is missing a screw/pin that sits inside the frame. The cylinder also feels a bit loose but it looks like the trigger return spring being damaged might play a part in that as the nub on the trigger stops the cylinder at for round.

The F & W Bulldogs were made from 1880 to 1890.
The caliber will be .44 Bulldog (obsolete)or .38 S&W.
These guns were designed for low pressure black powder cartridges. Gun Parts Inc. may have some used parts.
These guns were copied from Webley Bulldogs by makers in Belgium, Spain, and the US.
Value is dependent on condition and maker.
I see gun show prices in the $300.00-$400.00 range and on-line prices at about half that.
If your interested in British Bulldogs there is a book by George Layman that you could check out.
