Nearly 30 years ago I made a foolish decision to trade off my first deer rifle (a beautiful old Model 94 .32 Special) for a bolt action magnum that killed from both ends. I regretted it immediately and went to buy it back from the gun shop but it had be re-sold already. In my grief, I held on to a box of ammo hoping one day to reunite with my old flame (or at least one like it).

Well, now I have a chance! A friend's uncle has offered to sell me one with a serial number indicating a 1952 issue. The gun is pretty nice shape, tight action and only normal bluing wear but a Williams peep has been added and the original rear site was ground down. There is no front site hood. The wood is in above average condition, to my eye, for a gun of this vintage

My questions:

Can I find an "original" rear site to replace the ground down one?

What would you suggest approximate price range is, given the above description?

Thanks,
Badger

hello,,the rear site should be a 3/8s dovetail slot i beleive,,and gunparts corp should have them,,you should be able to take a drift punch and tap the old dovetail site right out and replace it with a new replacement ,,mabey cost ya around 20-25 bucks for the parts ,,as for values ,,the 32 spe models sometimes bring a little more value wise,,that said with the site issues and having a peep installed collector intrest is less,,and if your friend brought it into the shop where i work part time the owner would proably offer him 150-200 for it,,if in nice condition other than the site issues,,i'd say a fair price for this would be in the 275-350 range,,for a private sale,, winchesters made from the late 40's-1964 seem to be selling at shows in the 400-600 range if unaltered and not refinished in my aera..1930- 1940s guns jump to 600-800+,and pre 1930 guns range from around 800-? depending on condition at gunshows or in gunshops.. again in the pa-ohio aera,,
