Curious about these guns.Found one in a pawn shop today(looks really rugged..rust on the barrel..excessive wear on receiver.)Are they good guns? What would the approximate value be? Shop wants $899.Seems a little high But....

fed arms co made these from parts kits that came into the country some years back if memory serves me right,,then they assembled them on there cast receivers,,i really can't say i've ever owned one but i do know they made up some m-14s awhile back also and there not suppose to be too bad ,,in the condition you say this one is in i think i'd pass for the price..it does seem a little high,,but in the same respect i guess when you think about the price century cetmes are selling for around (600) and there sometimes a crap shoot ,,then the price really isn't outa line ,,but it really sounds like if ya really want one ,,i'd check out gunbrokers .com before and see if theres any over there and what there selling for online at auction,,now i'm not saying that a good refinishing wouldn't turn that ugly rifle into a really nice rifle but thats if ya want to take a chance on it,,i would see if they'd give you some kinda guarrentee that it works but i think that might be outa the question..,and again i think you could find something a little better if ya look around..but just because it's ugly doesn't mean it wont shoot good,,just my 2 cents worth..
