hello ,,i don't beleive they were doing stainless back when the caliber would have been being used ,,it might have been special ordered in nickel plate but not stainless,,if it looks stainless it may have been blasted and then wired on a bench grinder ,,gives a nice stainless finish look but isn't really stainless,,i've done it on a bunch of guns because i really like the finish it gives ,,and fools alot of people ..lol..
