My father passed away and his pistol was given to me. Can any of you assess the value/scarcity of a Colt Commander Automatic 9mm Luger with the serial # 14XXX-LW?

Thank You

Anywhere in the $1000 to $1750 range depending on the condition. Call Colt's Customer Service number and give them the serial #. They will tell you the year it was built at Colt. Then, try to assess the condition. If rarely shot and no major blotches, nicks or scratches, you could get at least $1000 to $1300. The LW means LW which is made of alloy. It is not full metal.
If it were, it would be the Combat Commander Model. Anyway, you have a collectable piece. Try to hold on to it. One more thing, 9mm Colt's are rare. Try to keep in your family.
