Looking for a web site with a write-up/comparison of these two pistols. Anyone out there know of one?

the Tokarev is too small. The round ballistics and the accuracy is good

I find the Tokarev an excellent 'size'; my only gripe are shitty grips...

Are any of the surplus Tokerovs available without an added safety?

I have been shooting Tokarevs with the slim grips and without grips. http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?s=& postid=404115 I fantasize making some grips of thin Aluminum.

The 'slim grips?' Where can I get some? You must be talking about the original Tokarev grips, correct? I understand that the plastic grips with the thumb rest on the Polish Tokarevs aren't original and were added along with the safety retrofit.

Interesting idea there about shooting it without any grips at all, I hadn't thought of that. Sure makes an already very flat gun even flatter!

I did pick up a 9mm barrel a while ago, figured having it would add quite a bit to the pistol's versatility. Now I'm wondering if anyone is making new 7.62x25 barrels. I figured if anyone would know it'd be you, since I know you like experimenting with hot loads.

Btw, I came up with a simple system to keep from chambering a 9mm round in the 7.62x25 barrel, the results of which would be severely unpleasant since a 9mm bullet will not be going down a 30 caliber tube. I have equal numbers of magazines both with and without the lanyard loop on the base plate. I put a split keyring in all of the mags with loops and use those strictly for 7.62x25 and use the ones without loops for 9mm.

Bob, It is great to see someone else take Tokarevs seriously.

Those thumb rest grips would make Tokarev roll over in his grave, and make me squeamish about trying to fit the pistol in my Smart Carry.

The barrels I have got from SKSMAN are very nice, but the Navy Arms are of poor quality and require fitting before shooting. I wouldn't give Numerich the satisfaction of paying $49.80 or $53.05 plus shipping and handling for a Tokarev barrel.

> ... I really don't have a problem with that, it is the people I let shoot my guns, and I am going to be educating and watching them from now on. Here is a 9mm round fired in a 7.62x25mm barrel. Notice how the jacket was left behind: http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?s=& postid=400835

www.guntests.com has an article comparing a Chinese Tokarev, a Polish Tokarev, and a CZ-52. I ended up buying both a CZ-52, and a Polish Tokarev. I blame the Tokarev on Clark Magnusson. B-)
