Hi guys
Sorry i havent been on line for a while, Wife went to visit daughter in Wisconsin. I have a head cold,Hope it isn't swine flu. If it is and i pass on I will leave my primers to big Curt. They are the most valuable possession i have. I have another question, I picked up a Romanian AK 47 while i was up in Utah ( It is still in Utah) I noticed that the ammo for the AK 74 is cheaper than ammo for the AK 47. Would it be possible to convert the 47 to take the 74 ammo? Or do i have my head where the sun dont shine? I can almost see you guys rolling your eyes at this one. But remember the handicapped are allowed to ask questions too.

lol..i'm guessing your talking about the 5.56x45 russian equivulant to our 223 round ..i would imagine you could do the swap by swapping out the barrel assembly as long as the donor and the 47 are from the same republic,,i don't beleive the barrel would be different mounting wise..i wouldn't try it if it was mine because ya never know when imported ammo will dry up..as of now i'm not aware of any commercial 5.56x45 being produced here but many companys have jumped on the 7.62x39 bandwagon..the cases are basically the same so the bolts should be pretty close ,,if memory serves me right the 5.56x45 was a necked down 7.62x39 but i beleive the base diameter is the same..so the bolt face should be very close if not the same..as for changing the barrels ..thats something i can't comment on..never changed one..some are pressed in and some are threaded,,the overall cost to do the changeover by time you buy a donor and mabey the tools to change the barrel may be higher than just owning one of each,,lol,,after this conflict in iraq surplus ammo may come back down to the point where the 762x39 may be alot cheaper than the 5.56x45,,i saw an add from s.o.g. the other day with wolf x39 ammo for around 200 a thousand which is pretty cheap and has dropped since the first of the year,,so mabey it's a good concept with the changeover but may not be worth the time involved in the long run..but thats only my nickel's worth!lol,,and i'll put it on your bill..lol..lol

Good hearing from you buddy, I dont think i was really considering changing the AK over to another caliber, I think i was just thinking out loud. This cold is really starting to make me mad, I had to cancel the dancing girls. Finally get rid of the little woman for a couple weeks and i come down with this cold. I wonder if she had anything to do with this? How are things going in your neck of the woods? We have been having some really poopy weather. I did get a scope mount for the 03A3,that dosent have drill the receiver. Hope it is stable enough? Haven't felt like mounting it yet. Well you guys keep your powder dry, and i will try to do the same. I know you are on the edge of your seat waiting for my next question? I will try and make it something not too hard

I'm getting ready to head off to work, Things are getting tuff here, Cut my hours down to 32. But im thankful for what i have. I sure enjoy talking with you. I have been checking into sites that carry pulled military bullets, Haven't tried out the bullet mold yet, gathering data on lead mixtures and getting gas checks. hope they aren't as hard to get as primers. Catch you later buddy
