I have lost my dad's military pistol to a theif! It was issued to him in the service during the start of wwII. I have had it since 1990 and never rote serial number down.I have looked up price but dont know anything but it said 1911 45 cal and it was marked with U.S. on its side. More then likely do you know what it might have been? I remember it said 1911 only no letters after it! I wish I had more info but I dont.

hi ed,
the pistol you discribed, if it had no letters after the 1911 such as 1911A1 would have been manufactured pre 1924. they were still issued during WW2. the value would start at about 1400. JMHO
