it means springfield started building them and colt finishes them..so they may have mixed parts and they may be colt parts,,springfield was geared up for building rifles and they couldn't meet ther quota so colt stepped in..at least thats what i read somewhere ,,original springfield pistols carry a higher value than colt pistols because of the limited amount produced by springfield ,,basically they made the receivers /frames and then colt used them up untill a new serial number block was issued ,,your serial number actually in my refenece book say it was produced by colt ,,the suspended serial numbers from springfield was 128617-133186 these numbers were not used by springfield and they were reissued to colt,,colts first serial numberes block used in 1917 were 137401-151186 so your pistol falls into the first batch colt turned out in 1917 heres a site with colt serial numbers for you to check out to verify the numbers ,,
