I have my father's World War II Colt .45 he carried as his sidearm.
The serial number is 428936 and that range indicates that it was made by Colt in 1918.
The ejection port side of the receiver is stamped "Model of 1911 U.S.Army".
The overall condition is very good with very little wear/marks. The Hogue grips were installed to improve the comfort of shooting this beast.
Can you give me your opinion of what this piece is worth?

Thank you in advance
JF

I would have to say, from my experience, that it is worth well over $1K.

hi fisher,
the least i've seen for your 45 is 1450, with more history of the firearm it could be much higher.

Thanks for your input; what additional history would be helpful in determining value?

Thanks,

hi fisher,
you can querry colt and see if they can tell you what unit the weapon was issued and sometimes even to whom and when.
