Colt 1911 45

I am thinking about selling my colt 1911 45.I am told it may have "some value" and should not fire it.It is in very good condition and shows little wear.It has sat in a box since being brought back after WW2.I have dated it to 1943 (serial# 1117xxx)Would someone have an idea of value and where to sell it? Thanks
