I am trying to get a fair value on my gun. I understand without seeing picture it is difficult, So I have attached it.
Was issued to father Korean war. 1911 us. Army
No. 37XX, which means the base is much older than the top.
The base has the loop hanging off the bottom as does the clip, so from what I could tell, this is one of the original first 4000 made.
The grips are the plastic ones put on for korean conflict. I've researched, and believe the slide and barrel may be of the korean conflict time as well.
It has a case, which I would like to find out seperately what it might be worth.
Thank you

thats a nice looking 45 and will bring you good money when you deceide to sell it..it is one of the first serial number lots produced in 1912 and looks pretty good from what i can see and from my research serial numbers between 3501-3800 were asigned with a usmc lot numbers ,,that will help the value ,,it won't be marked usmc it will be marked us armyin poor sondition which it isn't it's book value is 1600 and very good is 4700 ..realistically i'd say you shouldn't have any problems with 2000 -3000+ at auction or to a serious colt collector even if it's been threw a arsenal rebuild which id say it proably was,, but a more detailed identification would be nessasary by a competant colt collector for proper values ..as for your holster it's also very collectable ,,the brown 45 holster were seen more during the ww2 years and are highly sought after items and may bring as much as 125-150+ to the right collector depending how it's marked on the back,,you have 2 nice collectable items there ,,congrats

Looks like a nice piece and definitely a collector. I looked it up and looks like USMC issue which they only made 300 of them in that serial number range. Nice pice you have there for sale.

Sold the gun soon after posting to a collector, but I still have holster if interested. It has 1918 stamped on the back of it.
