Howdy folks,
I inherited my Great Uncle Johannes' Colt .45. It has three dates on it, and 3 serial numbers that all match. Sept. 19, 1871
July 2.72 and Jan.19.75 The three matching numbers are all 169080. The barrel is 6 3/4 inch long and has '45 Colt.' stamped on it.
The grips are checkered black with the Colt horse in a kind of slightly flattened circle and the interior of the circle is not checkered, with the horse in the center. Uncle John was a gunsmith in Sonora, Ca. and had a little gold mine on his property. I also have the carry permit he got for this pistol as well. Any idea just what kind of value this fine piece has? If it were an automobile, I would say it's in very very good original condition. No missing pieces, and it's all very tight. Thank you very much.

hi shydog,
value of your colt could be considerable, my suggestion would be to have a hands-on appraisel done for insurance purposes.

Thank you very much for the response. I took the pistol to a local 'gun store' a while back. I was surprised when he gave me a very low quote. Another gent that worked there looked at me and said "does that tell you what you need to know?" I said "yes it does." I'm pretty neither of us were talking about the pistol. Thanks again Kim. I really appreciate it.
