yes you can. you can change out the barrel, in a bolt action you'll most likely have to change the bolt also. you can have the barrel rechambered. a friend of mine took a ruger #3 and had it rechambered from 22 hornet to 223 remington, but due to barrel twist he found that it would only shoot very light bullets accurately. There are many options it's just a matter of how much you want to spend. sometimes it might be cheaper just to buy another rifle....JMHO
