by the way, barrel is 22 in long, and crown looks ok. was there any other manufacturers other than springfeild armory? build date was april 1899.... i think. i wish the damn thing could talk!!! probably dumped its share of deer, maybe humans too.

hello ,,fill me in on what ya have and the markings ,,it sounds like a 30-40 krag with the date ya listed and the refrence to springfield,,but i'm not sure it's what your talking about ,,the 1899 krag carbine had a 22" barrel but serial numbers would fall in the 222609-362256 range ,,it's the only US krag with the 1899 date ,,so let me know or bring me up to speed on this one ,,and i can better know what i'm appraising ,,

curt, the rifle says...... springfield armory, 1898,sn 210392. thats all i know. im baffled why its not dated 1899. ??????
