Hello I have a browning light 12 and am trying to see how old it is. the only numbers that I can find on it is 10148 with a "L" on it. if anyone knows anything abuot this gun, please give me a hand in finding out about this gun.

hi bigben,
with browning a-5's, Serial Numbering System changed in 1954-55. H=Standard Weight. L=Light Weight. in 1956 light wieght changed to G. the only s/n using an L was in the 55-56 years. also check for yourself at this site.

Hello thanks for the help but I made a mistake, the "L" is above the S/N under a "FN" in a circle. the "L" is not part of the S/N it means it is a light 12, but there are only 5 #'s in the S/N 10148. please excuse my mistake.
