Thinking about the suggestion that apathy and unwarranted trust in Obama’s promises to be gun rights friendly, at least friendlier than he has been can, can lead his way to the White House.
Dick discusses the case of Obama in comparison to the election of Jim Doyle as governor in Wisconsin in 2002.
Doyle promises to keep the rights of the gun holders were enough to make people ignore the NRA warning and vote for him.
I don’t know if many gun holders are about to ignore the issue of gun policy and vote for Obama, I just know that if they would it is probably because McCain gives gun rights but offers very little change on many others things.
Having to choose between two imperfect choices I guess some people would tend to convince themselves that the gun rights issues would be safe even if Obama is the one that sits in the White House.
I know many people that are going to vote for McCain not because they think he would be a good president but because he is the only choice they have caring for the issue of the gun rights as much as we all do.
If you’ll skip the 26 minute of the video to hear the future Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez saying that no one should have a gun.
SayUncle brought a link to the video and to the Illinois governor decision to place speed cameras on intersections so that cups would be able to find illegal gun owners and walk the street of Chicago confiscating guns.
The current gun ban hasn’t done much good to the murder rate and with the current legal attempts to overturn the ban completely it seems that this is clearly the wrong way.
If citizens are allowed to have guns for self defense there is a much better chance to stop some of the murders.
I can’t really say that I’ve heard all the complaints that were made about this gun, but I’ve read a lot and each time there is something new.
If you want to read some of the reported problems with Kimber yourself you might want to check the discussions here and here but there are many more.
Has someone heard about official complaints? After all it is not much of a self defense if the gun attacks us for no apparent reason. Beside it often attracts less experienced user because it is considered cool and their ability to cope with problems can put them at risk.
Everyone knows that it is flawed but no one warns unsuspecting customers.
Massachusetts House of Representatives Tuesday killed a disputed proposal by the governor to raise license fees for guns - and then voted to dramatically lower the existing fee.
The gun license fee there is 100$, the governor thought that increasing the fee to 200$ is a great way to pay for the costs of the health care system in the state and asked the house of representative to pass the bill, somehow not only the bill was denied but the members passed another bill saying that the license fee would be cut down to 40$.
I have to agree with Ragner on the WTF response, sure the bill has to reach the Senate and the fee would probably remain 100$ at the end but you have to admit that it was a nice move.
Have you noticed that after each time that a shooting takes place in some place there is an immediate call to ban guns at similar locations?
I don’t know why people are always trying to defend against the shooting that already occurred and miss the fact that it is never the same thing twice.
On call me Ahab I’ve seen a recent discussion on the churches and gun control. The previous post here discussed the attempt to ban guns from parks because of a shooting at a picnic.
Maybe the idea could work in a world where no one has any guns but limiting the rights for self defense because some people can get crazy? That’s like saying that all people should have a psych evaluation before having a permit to live.
The only way to counter such random attacks is to have a more balanced policies. For an act of madness most people would get a gun license or no license so just take a deep breath and stop the reaction.
